Ben holds the Wines & Spirits Education Trust Level 4 Diploma in Wines & Spirits. He is one of around 10,000 people worldwide to do so. He is based in Lincoln, Lincolnshire but can arrange to travel further afield as required. Ben has a passion for wine and is always trying to improve his knowledge. Ben is also a WSET Certified Educator and is available to support Programme Providers with their teaching needs (Level’s 1-3).
His loves are Liverpool Football Club, badminton, food and obviously wine! Asking him about his favourite wines will often elicit an answer involving food, day of the week and what he’s been trying recently! However, Northern Italian Reds and German Riesling are always amongst his firm favourites…
Throughout the year we offer ticketed tasting events for you to come and have a try of some unusual and exciting wines. These events will give you a feel of the service offered when we come out and provide tastings. Check back regularly for any new events.
Cantine San Marzano (Puglia, Italy) Wine Tasting £25.00 a ticket Venue: The Cheese Society, 1 St Martin’s Lane, Lincoln
A chance to taste through the portfolio of one of Ben’s favourite Italian producers. Ben will take you on a tour of the Italian South East and show off a range of styles from light and fresh Malvasia to the big, rich Primitivo di Manduria. Eight wines to try. Nibbles provided.
Dessert Wine Tasting £25.00 a ticket Venue: The Cheese Society, 1 St Martin’s Lane, Lincoln
If, like Ben, you have a sweet tooth then come and join us for a tasting of the underappreciated world of dessert wines. We will try eight wines from the deliciously delicate Moscato d’Asti to the rich and complex Sauternes. And knowing Ben some wonderfully obscure Recioto, Icewine and Tokaji will try and sneak in! Sweet nibbles and cheeses provided.
Annual Port Tasting £25.00 a ticket Venue: The Cheese Society, 1 St Martin’s Lane, Lincoln
One of Ben’s favourite topics! Ben will help you try yet more Port. There’s always something new and exciting to taste. Eight Ports in a variety of styles to try. Nibbles provided. Always a sell out so make sure you get your tickets quick!
We charge a set fee to come along to your home or a venue of your choice. In addition to the set fee is the cost of the wines bought along to try. The wines selected will affect the overall cost of the tasting but can be tailored to any budget you want to work to. We also conduct tutored Gin Tastings.
